March 17, 2020: As part of AMAFCA’s efforts to limit in-person contact in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, the AMAFCA office will be serving citizens by appointment only beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020, and until further notice.
AMAFCA’s COVID-19 Response:
One of AMAFCA’s main functions is to safeguard the health and welfare of both citizens and AMAFCA employees. Therefore, following state directives to limit exposure, AMAFCA will be open; however, is limiting in-person visits until further notice. AMAFCA will function with some staff working remotely, along with staff physically in the AMAFCA office, and staff in the field to handle our maintenance operations. Please call us, or email your project manager, to see if we can address your issue over the phone or by email. These measures are meant to avoid gatherings where safe social distance cannot be maintained. All visitors are expected to wear a mask while at the AMAFCA office and where it is deemed appropriate in the field.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced additional restrictions to disrupt the spread of the COVID-19 virus in New Mexico and instructed New Mexicans to remain in their homes or places of residence except for outings absolutely necessary for health, safety, and welfare. Future Board Meetings will be held via Zoom conference until the Governor lifts the stay-at-home restrictions to comply with AMAFCA Resolution No. 2020-05, a Resolution of The Governing Body of Albuquerque Metropolitan Flood Control Authority, Authorizing The Exercise By Board of Directors of Amended Procedures For The Conduct of Public Meetings During The Effective Period of Executive Order No. 2020-004, Issued By The Governor of New Mexico On March 11, 2020.
Attorney General Hector H. Balderas, through the Open Government Division Advisory, issued guidance to public entities across the State of New Mexico regarding obligations to comply with the Open Meetings Act (OMA) and the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) during the COVID-19 state of public health emergency in New Mexico.
AMAFCA as an essential business has determined mission critical functions. The AMAFCA Executive Engineer has approval for emergency expenditures and can take other actions necessary to keep the agency functioning.
