VEGETATION MANAGEMENT TECHNICIAN

The Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority (AMAFCA) has a position available for a Vegetation Management Technician.  Under the general guidance and direction of the Stormwater Quality Program Engineer, the primary responsibility of this position is vegetation management and removal, including the operation of heavy equipment when transporting chemicals. The employee performs a variety of technical functions and skilled tasks related to the planning, implementation, and maintenance of vegetation management programs that support the operation of AMAFCA’s flood control facilities and ensure compliance with environmental standards. When not engaged in pesticide-related duties, the employee performs the functions of a Maintenance Worker-Operator.

JOB DESCRIPTION

AMAFCA offers a competitive salary, based on qualifications, and a full benefits package.  The successful applicant must agree to a pre-employment medical examination, drug screening, and background, driving, and criminal records check.  Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement. The license must be unrestricted, except for corrective lenses (Restriction B).  Subject to all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations under 49 CFR Parts 40 and 382, including participation in random drug and alcohol testing.  May be required to respond to emergency callouts.
